Lake Louise - Revelstoke - Lake Skaha

The view from the cliff

On the way back from the Bugaboos, we stopped in Lake Louise for some sport climbing !

We also went climbing The Grand Sentinel in Lake Louise ! There are two routes of 4 pitches on this spire. One is trad, the other is sport. We did both !

The people we were hiking with ;)

The Grand Sentinel

Maxime and Mathilde, 2 french guys we met, were climbing beside us ;)

The rock was a little bit shit on The Sentinel but it was fun and the view was great ;)

Revelstoke

After driving west from Lake Louise, Ivan and I stopped in Revelstoke. We slept between the road and Revelstoke Lake. Quite nice ;) The cliff on which we climbed the next day is called Waterworld. It has some short multipitches starting just above the water !

Revelstoke Lake

We slept there for 3 days ;)

When we arrived in the evening, we met two great guys from the area. They were coming back from their canoe tour and I said : "Oh it would be great to go to the cliffs with a canoe !". One of the guy answered : "You can have it if you want !". No way !?? That's how the next day, we ended up canoeing to the base of the routes, instead of driving to the top and having to rappel down ! ;) Thank you Brad and Dan !!

Lake Skaha

Then, on the way back to Squamish, we'll make a stop in Lake Skaha, another great sport climbing area.

And end of August, we are back to Squamish ! My friend Julie is coming on the 1st of September and together, we will continue the trip ! We'll stay in Squamish for a few days before heading South to Yosemite again !

Buga Buga BUGABOOS !

After spending more than a month in Squamish, the rest of Canada was calling and especially... THE BUGABOOS ! I heard this place had amazing granite rock and it would be my first alpine experience so I was excited to go there :) Ivan would be my partner on this trip !
We knew that we wouldn't be able to eat fresh veggies, fruits or meat up there..... So, we decided to have a feast the day before leaving ! 8)

Fresh salmon, rice and veggies ! Yummy ! Thank you Ivan !

When you arrive to the Bugs, you park the car at the trailhead (1500m elevation) and wrap it with chicken wires so that porcupines don't chew on your brake lines !

We got there in the evening and decided to start hiking the next morning. The hike to the Applebee campground (2440m) takes about 3 to 4 hours. It took me about 5 hours..... We were planning on staying 7 days in the Bugs but realized later that we took food for at least 10 days !! On top of it, we only stayed 3 days because the weather turned bad...... (Yep, the descent was a plaisure too...... :} ). Then, in addition to the food, we had to carry our tent, cooking set, sleeping gear, climbing gear, underwear and socks ! My bag probably weighed between 25 and 30kg and my all body was dying after this ! Good training LoLo !! I was trying to convince myself all the way up ! ;)

However, the hike is beautiful !!

I finally got to the Applebee Dome and the Bugaboo Glacier ! Such a good reward !!!

The next day, we go for Sunshine Crack. A classic line of 11 pitches on the North face of Snowpatch Spire.

My first glacier ;)

Beautiful climb, full of cracks !

The next day, we go for McTech Arete and enjoy a beautiful sunrise before leaving Applebee...

No picture of the climb unfortunately but some at the top...!

Nice view on the Snowpatch and Bugaboo Spire

After this climb, the weather
got a little bit bad and the forecast
for the next days was rain, rain, rain... :(
Unfortunately, we had to leave much
earlier than we expected...

You probably want to know what the toilets look like !
No.....?
Ah well, I show you anyway !

Bye Bye Bugaboos...
